Suehiro’s Cerax line are manufactured for optimal tactile feedback and excellent cutting performance. As a result of achieving the desired feedback in sharpening, these stones end up being a little softer than others of comparable grit.
This 6000 grit stone leaves a nice contrast between soft and hard steel and a nice toothy edge. This is one of the few finishing stones that requires a proper soak and will perform best after about 20-30 minutes in the water. Care should be taken if repeatedly soaking and drying that it be done slowly so as to minimize cracking or chipping; it is also important to chamfer the corners of this stone to prevent breakage. This stone will tolerate permanent soaking, but the water should be changed regularly to keep it clean.
