Challenging existing tribology (study of friction) theories, Dr. Kazuo Hokkirigawa from Tohoku University and his team’s innovation introduces a sole with a hybrid pattern that consists of two types of friction-resistance (one is rough surface – resistance to slipping, the other is smooth surface – ability to stop immediately once slipping occurs), making the shoes slip-resistant not only on wet surfaces but also on oily surfaces.

The insole features a contoured design with a built-in arch support that mirrors the natural curvature of the foot’s arch. This design aids in reinforcing the muscles of the inner arch, which are prone to weakening during extended periods of standing, thereby enhancing posture and providing relief.

Fit: If you prefer a slightly roomier fit, have high insteps, or have wide feet, you may consider choosing a size 0.5 larger.
